1-Day Meditation Retreats in Melbourne

Mindful-Mini Retreat

It can be hard to find the time and space to take time out just for yourself. This mindful mini-retreat offers you that opportunity — a space where you can:

  • reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re going
  • deepen and develop your meditation practice, and
  • hear and share your experiences with other meditators

It’s a day to explore gentle ways to restore your well-being. Depending on your interests, you might use it to:

  • Calm the Mind: Find new ways to quieten the mental chatter and soothe your nervous system.
  • Build Resilience: Develop the inner strength to face difficult emotions and life’s challenges with more ease.
  • Rediscover Presence: Reconnect with a sense of wonder and be more fully present in your own life.
  • Trust Your Experience: Learn to rely on your own inner guidance rather than external instructions, and build the confidence to meditate naturally on your own terms.

Fantastic meditation retreat for those without the time to make it to a longer one. Matt is a great facilitator who takes all the pretention out of meditation and guides everyone with expert advice. Highly recommend for all levels.

Who attends a Mini-Retreat?

New to meditation? You’ll find a gentle, down-to-earth introduction that doesn’t require you to sit perfectly still or “clear your mind.”

Stuck in a rut? If you’ve been using apps or guided meditations and wonder what it would be like to practice on your own, this day is designed to give you that independence.

Need a refresher? It’s an ideal way to reconnect with your practice and spend a Sunday recharging alongside others with similar needs.

What makes this retreat different?

Freedom from Techniques: Move beyond dependence on specific instructions or rigid techniques.

Personalised Practice: Learn how to create a meditation practice that suits your own temperament, tastes and needs.

Community Spirit: Get to hear and share what really happens when you and others meditate.

What if I’m a beginner?

Although Mini-Retreats are usually attended by people who have completed a Beginners Course with us, or have some other meditation experience, they are also suitable for beginners.

What happens on a Mini-Retreat?

The day is relaxed, informal, and designed to be as much of a rest as it is a learning experience. We alternate between periods of meditation, personal reflection, and group discussion.

A Gradual Start: We begin with very short, manageable meditations to help you settle in. As your confidence grows, we slowly increase the duration, with sessions ranging from 1 to 30 minutes.

Self-Guided Exploration: Rather than being led through guided meditations (which can sometimes feel like you’re just following orders), you’ll be given simple themes or suggestions to explore. This helps you learn to navigate your own mind without needing constant external guidance.

Time for Reflection: After each meditation, you’ll have a few quiet minutes to journal or reflect on your experience. This is a practical way to notice how your mind works and what helps you feel more settled.

Open Discussion: We wrap up each session with a relaxed group chat. It’s a chance to ask questions, share insights, and hear how others are navigating their own practice. (Participation is always encouraged, but never compulsory.)

Thanks for all your wisdom and teachings. You’re great at making the theory and practice of meditation accessible to all – a pretty amazing skill.

What the day offers

Time out: Six hours dedicated to resting and reflecting away from the noise of the week.

Independence: Learn how to meditate without needing a voice in your ear or a specific set of instructions.

Real insights: Move beyond “trying to relax” and start understanding the conditions that actually lead to a healthier, more receptive state of mind.

What to bring

You don’t need any special equipment or previous “retreat experience” to join us. Here are a few details to help you prepare:

What to wear: Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. There’s no need for yoga gear or specific “meditation clothes” — ordinary, loose-fitting clothes are fine.

Seating: We’ll be sitting in chairs, but if you prefer to use a meditation stool or cushion, you are welcome to bring your own. You may also like to bring a yoga matt or similar for the longer post-lunch meditation, which we usually do lying down.

Lunch & Breaks: We break for one hour from 12:30 – 1:30 for lunch. You can bring your own, or join us at a nearby cafe.

Note-taking: We provide time for reflection and journaling after each meditation, so please bring a notebook and pen (or digital equivalent) so you can jot down your thoughts.

I wanted to say thank you for a great course and lots of useful insights into how to have a more flexible and adaptable meditation practice.

Thanks for your generosity and knowledge!
